Program Note:

Danga is the relatively short introduction of an evening length Pansori performance. I’ve reinterpreted the title to be a very short prelude for cello and piano. Musically, the cello writing uses a earthy, gritty korean inspired approach (and phrasing reminiscent of pansori), with large open bell like chords ringing through on the piano.

This was written in honor of Steve Osgood, TV Anchorman and longtime supporter of the Arts at Fontainebleau Summer Programs. Commissioned as a variation alongside other distinguished Fontainebleau Composer Alumni.
